Summary

 

The Country Sales Manager is responsible for driving commercial growth, customer excellence, and market leadership across Zambia’s mining and construction sectors. By developing strong relationships with key mining clients and expanding business activities, they position BIA as a trusted and preferred partner.

In this role, the Country Sales Manager will lead the development and expansion of the Construction Business Unit (BUC) and drive the growth of Underground activities, initially in Zambia and the DRC, with a longer-term perspective across Africa. They will define and implement marketing and commercial strategies aligned with business objectives, while building a high-performing sales organization capable of sustaining growth and delivering strong financial performance.

What will be your responsibilities?

 

  1. Drive Business Development & Customer Portfolio Management 
    • Develop and manage the full customer portfolio (prospecting, retention, and expansion)
    • Conduct continuous prospecting and identify new business opportunities
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key mining clients through regular site visits
    • Develop Underground business and expand Construction Business Unit activities
  2. Deliver Sales Performance & Commercial Excellence
    • Prepare, negotiate, and close equipment and service offers
    • Supervise quotations, orders, and ensure proper order execution and delivery
    • Achieve revenue growth, profitability, and market share objectives
    • Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and risk management policies
  3. Define & Implement Commercial and Marketing Strategy
    • Define and execute marketing policy and commercial strategy aligned with business objectives
    • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs
    • Share market insights internally to support decision-making and business development
  4. Strengthen Customer Experience & Collaboration
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and implement feedback mechanisms
    • Support cross-functional collaboration (after-sales, technical, marketing, etc.)
    • Maintain accurate CRM data and monitor sales pipeline development
  5. Reporting, Planning & Performance Monitoring
    • Prepare and follow up on business plans, forecasts, and sales performance reports
    • Monitor pipeline development, hit rate, and revenue forecasts
    • Provide regular reporting on market developments and business performance
  6. Lead and Develop the Sales Team
    • Manage, coordinate, and support the performance of the sales team
    • Foster collaboration, accountability, and high performance within the team
    • Contribute to talent development, coaching, and long-term team capability building

  • Revenue growth and turnover
  • Gross margin and P&L performance
  • Customer satisfaction and retention
  • Pipeline development and conversion rate
  • Acquisition of new customers
  • Growth of BUC and Underground business
  • Forecast accuracy and reporting quality

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ commercial experience in mining, construction, or industrial sectors
  • Strong knowledge of the Zambian and/or DRC mining markets is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in sales, negotiation, and business development
  • Strong ability to manage key accounts and build long-term client relationships
  • Solid commercial acumen with a strong results-oriented mindset
  • University degree or equivalent experience (Sales, Marketing, Engineering, or related fields)
  • Good understanding of financial principles, financing solutions, and commercial frameworks
  • Fluency in English (French or other languages are an asset)
