Summary

 

The HR Business Partner directs and coordinates the HR team (when applicable), to enable them to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business. Advise on best HR practices and where necessary takes a hands-on role. Implement the organization’s human resource strategy in line with global policies to attract, manage, develop, and retain resources.

 

What will be your responsibilities?

 

  • Implement the organization’s human resource strategy in line with global policies so that the organization attracts, manages, develops, and retains employees in order, for the business, to achieve its current and future objectives.
  • Manage HR Projects cross functionally.
  • Build a strong business relationship with the internal client.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the timely recruitment of key talents for the internal client.
  • Partner with the business and talent management/staffing and recruit colleagues on key talent initiatives (workforce planning / succession planning / high potential employee development).
  • Enable business change (support the talent aspects of organicational structure changes).
  • Liaise with Group HR Centers of Excellence to ensure continuous improvement in aligning HR policies & tools to business needs.
  • Manage HR data in global HR tools (reaching 100% data accuracy) as well as manage efficient reporting.
  • Advisory – Employment law, all HR policies, procedures, processes, compliance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Review payroll, payroll budget and forecast.
  • Coordinating with the training department for any training requirements.
  • Workplace communications.
  • Any other cognate duties.

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Bachelor degree/Master’s in Human Resources, or any alternative qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 12 years of proven practice in a senior position in the field of Human Resources, including 3 years in a large organization.
  • Fluent in French and English, both oral and written, as well as presentation skills (French and English)
  • Conversant with Legislations and Rules and Regulations governing employment laws in Mauritius.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Have highly developed and proven team management skills.
  • Demonstrate good listening and negotiation skills.
  • Possess a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and a high sense of personal and professional skills.
  • Key competencies (Soft): Developing & Coaching Others, Leadership, Customer Focus, Organizational Alignment, Influence & Persuasion.

 

What context and challenges will you face in this role?

 

As HRBP, you will operate in a dynamic and demanding environment where resilience, credibility, and adaptability are key. The role requires balancing operational HR delivery with strategic partnership, ensuring compliance with local labor law while aligning with Group processes in a shared‑service model. You will be expected to manage employee relations (dialogue, conflict resolution, performance, discipline, engagement), act as a trusted advisor to managers, and provide pragmatic, people‑focused guidance.

 

Success in this role calls for autonomy, strong prioritization skills, confidentiality, and the ability to mediate between business and HR. Clear communication, a firm yet human posture, and the courage to say “no” when needed are essential to build trust and credibility. You will oversee recruitment, onboarding, payroll, administration, compensation & benefits, and forecasting, while coordinating closely with the HR Shared Service.

The HR structure may evolve to include a junior HR profile reporting to you.

The scope also extends to supporting our China entity (BIA Shanghai).
