Summary

 

Perform a wide variety of professional level procurement duties involving Organization, acquisition of goods and services, planning, supplier management, Coordination and ensuring correct procedures and policies; performs related duties as assigned.  The Purchasing Officer reports to the Supply Chain Manager.  You will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of your work product. You will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.

What will be your responsibilities?

 

Safety Assurance

 

•Ensure safety standards are adhered to
•Safety Assurance

 

Stock Orders

 

•Buying
•Expediting
•Manage  discrepancies for emergency and stock orders
•Planning all procurement activities
•Ensure that Orders are duly approved before transmission to supplier
•Coordinating the timely acquisition of goods and services from the right sources in line with the principle of value for  

 

Money

 

•Determining the best procurement methods.
•Communicating to suppliers the right quality of goods and services in line with the company policy.
•Raising local purchase orders
•Scrutinizing vendor tax invoices and forwarding to finance for payment.
•Advising the end users on ETA’s for goods on back order.
•Backorder management.
•Negotiating better deals with the company suppliers in order to make savings.
•Supplier Management
•Adherence to the procurement procedures/policies
•Ensure timeous delivery of stock by consistently following-up with suppliers 
•Make alternative arrangements for sourcing of emergency items. 
•Notify supplier immediately of shortages, damaged / incorrect items received.
•Process re-orders immediately for shortfall items depending on urgency according to procedure.
•Ensure that team members achieve performance objectives.
•Conduct coaching and mentoring to meet individual needs.
•Establish a continuous improvement culture.
•Utilize staff skills correctly to ensure accurate and timely task completion (i.e. use people with the necessary skills).
Ensure that the correct procedures and policies are being adhered to at all times    

Who are we looking for?

 

Education & Qualification

  • Purchasing and Supply Diploma or equivalent
  • Procurement experience a must
  • Conversant with MS Office
  • Knowledge of Pivoting tables  and conditional formatting

 

Experience

2 years’ experience at same level
