Summary
Reporting to the general direction of the Welding Shop/Department Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing all required welding on the mine site to the highest possible standards while continually aligning daily functions to reflect BIA values.
What will be your responsibilities?
- General understanding of mining operations, with understanding of mining and maintenance operations.
- Understand the importance of Pre heating and post heating is required.
- Use of various wires and rods and understand the uses and applications of each type.
- Read blueprints in preparation for welding.
- Prepare service reports and file them appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, environmental, privacy and code of conduct.
- Consistently exercises sound judgment and good judgment in the performance of work.
- Works without risk or harm to self and others.
- Assists in developing staff in other departments to perform the tasks listed above.
- Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with PCs using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Who are we looking for?
Experience and Qualifications:
- 5 years working experiences on mining industry as welder is required.
- Welding Technician degree or certification required.
Skills:
- Demonstrates strong welding skills on different welding positions.
- Has experiences on cracks and bucket repair.
- Must understand the differences between different wires and rods and their uses.
- Have a basic understanding of metallurgy is a plus
- Must have the ability to read blueprints and good fabrication skills.
- Welding knowledge required (MMA or Arc Welding, TIG Welding, MIG/MAG Welding, Torch Welding).
- Basic arc gouging experience required.
- Punctuality and attendance required.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills. Understand English (basic) is a plus
- Must be 18 years of age and currently licensed to work full-time.
- A valid driver’s license is a plus.
