Summary

A Komatsu engine specialist is a professional responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on Komatsu engines and heavy equipment, ensuring proper functioning, performance, and safety through in depth technical expertise. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex engine malfunctions, component overhauls, and providing technical support to other technicians, often requiring a background in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics.

What will be your responsibilities?

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex engine malfunctions and failures using specialized tools and techniques. 
• Perform routine maintenance and extensive repairs, including engine overhauls, component rebuilding, and system adjustments. 
• Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to other technicians, service departments, and customers. 
• Work on a wide range of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and dump trucks, with specific knowledge of their engine systems. 
• Document all diagnostic and repair activities, complete necessary reports, and maintain accurate records. 
• Adhere to and promote safe workshop practices and the company's safety culture. 
• Enforce all company policies and procedures. 
• All contacts must be maintained professionally and with courtesy, honesty and respect.
• Customer contact is critical and should remain confidential and should be done in a professional manner within the realm of quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of repair based on the facts of the failure analysis.

Who are we looking for?

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma equivalent;
• Degree in Mechanical automotive / Mechanical Engineering or four (4) years of apprenticeship experience;
• A background in diesel engine repair or heavy equipment mechanics, often with formal training from a technical school or equivalent experience.
• Work as a workshop or field technician at least five (5) years;
• Technician Classification is based on experience, knowledge, and competence.
• Proven Engine manufacturer/ OEM/ dealer training certificate on several Komatsu-Cummins engine series is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills required:

• Written and Verbal English communication skills.  Ability to demonstrate and state facts to all contact people;
• Ability to demonstrate and explain of basic Engine fuel and mechanical system
• Knowledge to access company’s processes;
• Knowledge to access manufacturers parts and technical data, either via a manual- or computer system;
• Understanding of the Komatsu products (specifications, applications, operation, maintenance, structure and function, testing and adjusting and repair).
• Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical aptitude and extensive knowledge of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and their components preferably Komatsu and Cummins Engine. Experiences on engine overhaul or general engine repair is a plus.
• Diagnostic Skills: Ability to interpret technical data, use diagnostic equipment, and analyze problems to determine root causes.
• Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain technical issues, provide reports, and collaborate with team members.
• Tool Proficiency: Competence in using precision measuring instruments and various diagnostic and repair tools. Know how to extract data from engine module is a plus.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to complex problem-solving and develop effective solutions.
