Summary
The Project Operation Manager will have to support head of contract management in multi-purpose project activities and develop BIA sales on mining projects (excluding equipment), as well as the establishment of new contracts while respecting the group's strategy.
What will be your responsibilities?
1) Business development
- Generate new ideas to grow the service market share and/or to generate value on the Service for Mine site project in Africa.
- Know the request of the market, customer, the input of the Project & Contract Managers in term of the Service in the mine.
- Deploy standard Mining Offering, Customer Sales presentation, Project Offering based on Mining current Market.
- Promoting ‘out of SLA” service support: strong and simple PCR offer, rebuild offer when possible, SmartFleet.
- Support BIA Marketing department by feeding them with recent news about success stories on mining site.
- Support strategic commercial decisions, to report them, and to ensure effective decision making.
- Manage strategic customer key accounts for the aftermarket business and contribute to the development of the related strategy, including meetings and communication with VP and CEO-level stakeholders.
- Support and guide country operations in the set-up and launch of new mining projects.
2) Financial
- Ensure mining projects are covered by profitable contracts (P&L).
- Participate to contract structure and recommendations.
- Support and/or implement all actions aiming at improving profit margins of the different projects.
- Support Project Manager in Coaching, setting up and negotiating investment & financing requests that are linked to the projects.
3) Reporting and communication
- Support Business KPI reporting format improvement and automatic life update w/ IT support. (ex: BO Mining dashboard).
4) Global QHSE – Process
- Ensure the respect of QHSE standards (internal and customer standards if applicable) and ensure proper reporting to management.
- Ensure the harmonization of projects documentation (project review, reporting...).
- Support projects processes harmonization (Mining DOS, 5S, P&L).
- Identify, to set up and to follow-up on project management improvement initiatives (process improvement).
5) People/team management
- Define and manage the team strategy and roadmap, in line with the department / the corporate strategy.
- Work closely with HR & Project & Contract Managers to ensure the operational compliance with BIA’s policies as defined by HR. (Incl: recruitment, objective setting, performance evaluation, learning and personal development plan, talent review).
Who are we looking for?
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management or a related field.
- Experience: Solid experience in mining-service projects, contract management, business development and project profitability, ideally across Africa.
- Languages: Full professional proficiency in English and French.
- IT skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting tools; experience with ERP systems, Power BI or similar dashboards is an advantage.
- Soft skills: Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, negotiation skills and a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence stakeholders and operate effectively in an international environment.
- Travel: The role requires regular business travel across Europe and Africa, representing approximately 20–30% of the year.
